Moving from flesh to spirit

Nov 19, 2020

Nov 9 I began a pursuit to refresh and renew the Word in my life, focusing on areas I knew needed some rebuilding…renovating. The thought of beginning at the beginning was somewhat daunting so I decided to begin with the little books and work my way through the 66. So far I have read and meditated and focused on Titus, Jude, Philemon, 3 John, 2 John and 1 John. Wow! Some essential materials in these 6 little books!

At the beginning of our journey (now 44 years for me) we heard it spoken that if we do not keep pursuing and tending what we have built, we leak. Yes, I can attest to that as we are renovating and restoring and developing a small acreage which, ironically is close to the same timeframe. There sure has been leakage in areas that were not kept in good repair. So consider this study a repair job, a shoring up and renewing of the spirit…moving from the leaking flesh to the solid well built and maintained spirit.

This morning I decided to review the 6 little books before I moved on. I wanted to know I was firmly established…that the roof was going on securely…making sure it was glued down and it lasted for the guaranteed 50 years…hail proofed, wind proofed and years of scorching sun proofed. So this is what I discovered this morning….

The flesh vs the spirit. I have listened to many teachings over the years of walking in the flesh and walking in the spirit (our spirit or the Holy Spirit…or both…you decide). I sensed as I was mediating and the Holy Spirit was bringing clarity (a fresh epiphany) that He was referring to my spirit here. Moving from the flesh of my mind and emotions (waking, mulling over the problems of the day of which there is an abundance these days) to my spirit man…the inner man that is guided and ruled by the Holy Spirit. The irony of this epiphany is that it came from Rom ch 7 through ch 8. This is where God took me before I began my organized reading.

Back to this morning’s epiphany based on Roman 7 & 8:

The flesh = mind and emotions—specifically examining my waking thoughts. Was I moved to fear by the pending problems of the day and times? Was there a sense of a lack of peace? Yes! Wow! How did I ever get to this? I saw in the spirit moving from fear and emotional thoughts to His Word. A fear of the roof blowing off, so to speak, and knowing by reviewing the works of applying the roof, that it was not going anywhere. If that makes sense. A getting out of the wandering thoughts and getting back to the facts. So cutting to the chase here: I forced myself out of my bed at 6:51 and moved to the table where I am conducting my study. I knew that the first thing I needed was the Word which will overcome the fearful thoughts. Yes! I was on the right track. Just reviewing Rom 7 & 8 settled the emotions and changed my mind track. The roof was securely in place. I knew I had moved from my flesh to my spirit. Can you see that? Can you see that? Can you see that?

Here’s what I received from The Holy Spirit once I made the decision to move out of my flesh and seek His ways and move my thoughts and actions into my spirit.

  1. Get into the Word (wherever He is guiding you to go) The Word goes directly to your spirit man…inner man. Allow the Word to speak to you, shoring you up again, renewing your mind. Give thought to what you are reading, allowing the Word to comfort, strengthen, correct and direct your thoughts, plans and purpose. (This also kicks out any lying thoughts the enemy is trying to trouble you with. Truth eliminates lies.)
  2. Praying from your spirit and in the Spirit. That is taking authority over clutter that interferes with your renovations, restoration and development process…pulling weeds from the good soil you are preparing for planting your good seed! We have authority over all the power of the enemy. We have authority over everything that creeps on the earth, over the earth and under the earth. (You will find this if you are reading The Word and understanding what you are reading.) Jesus said we would do the same works He did and greater works because He was to leave us and go to the Father. There was still much work to be done! Binding and rebuking, casting out. Speaking the truth into our situation. Believing the Word not the lies. Amen! Walk in the truth not the lies of the enemy.
  3. Prayer and supplication. God asks me many times: “What do you want Me to do for you?” I am so in awe when He asks me that I begin stumbling through what I think I should ask. It is His delight to give you the Kingdom. It is His delight as our Heavenly Papa to give us good things—to take good care of us. He says we have not because we ask not. Asking amiss is just about asking selfishly (notice this word contains the word “flesh”). If you know His Word well, you won’t have any difficulty asking or receiving. Amen.
  4. This might come before your pray and supplication or after, but do spend some intimate time with the Father, talking about stuff on your heart: family, friends, country, world; asking for direction and for His help in areas you need to change in your walk with Him and others. This is a personal relationship. He loves to have you come close to Him; see yourself sitting on His lap and His arm around you. He loves you so. Remember He chose you first. He wants to help you. He will never leave you or forsake you. You belong to Him. He is your Father forever. Amen.
  5. Now…continuing throughout your day living in/from your spirit man and avoiding the flesh (gloomy doomy thoughts and actions). Declare His truth as you go about the day and simply LIVE by His Word, ways, truth, light, love power and glory. You will discover that this will come from the time you spent in His Word in the early morning. It will keep you and guide you throughout the day. Amen. Amen. Amen.

A note as to what has prompted me to write this for you. Not long ago I was caught off guard and the enemy used me to make an awful mistake. I was not renewing my mind daily or even weekly, other than to open randomly my 3 times a day. That is not enough! WE DO LEAK and we need a roof that is guaranteed the 50 years. This comes via the Word. God richly bless you as you pursue His Word and His ways in your life. Be strong. Be courageous. Be filled with His Word and His Holy Spirit. Let your spirit be shored up and you will be built to last….

Easter Monday

Before I do one more thing on this Easter Monday, I must respond to all the Facebook posts I have read over the weekend! What a joy! (Nearing the end of an extended fast and Facebook was on my FAST list another 5 days), but I thought “It’s Easter, Lord, and I would like to see what all my friends on Facebook are doing.”

I experienced such a sense of joy as I read post after post from lives who personally know Jesus and expressed good wishes to their Facebook friends and to the world, giving Him thanks and praise. I continue today to feel an overwhelming joy from reading through these posts.

I cannot even imagine going back to the life I once lived before I received Jesus into my life (at age 32)! He has more than come through with His promise to give me life and that more abundantly (John 10:10)!!! Thank You my dear Lord and Savior! He says “Look I stand at your door and knock. If you invite me in I will come in and have fellowship and friendship with you and you also with Me (Rev 3:20).”

Jesus visited me that Easter season in a public library as I read a book my mother sent to me. My response to what I read was sincere, “If you are really there, show me.” I was immediately enveloped in an indescribable presence and sat motionless for some time, afraid whatever that amazing presence was would leave me if I moved!

People shuffled about all around me, browsing magazines and selecting books while I sat in that chair, experiencing the most amazing visitation from God. I carefully rose from the chair and left the library, headed to the nearest book store and bought the biggest King James Bible I could find. For 4 years I couldn’t put it down, but kept reading it over and over. Revelation after revelation poured into my broken soul and gave life to my newly born spirit as Jesus revealed Himself to me in all His glory. The Bible completely fell apart after 4 years and has since been lost. However, yesterday I took from my shelf 2 tattered and disassembled, giant King James Bibles to discover they came immediately in succession after the first one I read to shreds. Both of these Bibles are in the same condition as the first one that so gloriously established my relationship and love for my Savior! Thank You, Lord Jesus. Thank You, Father that you loved us so much to send us Your only begotten Son, that through Jesus the WORLD might be saved (John 3:16-17). Amen!

God didn’t send Jesus to condemn us but to save us! What an amazing merciful God! Thank You, Jesus, for all you have done for me and for the world!

In 2003, Alison Teed answered God’s call to deliver yet, one more message.  “Write again in a book all you have seen and heard….”

After more than a year of waiting on God, Alison began writing Voices Crying in the Wilderness— an account of 30 years of prophetic obedience.  Although, never a key prophetic voice in Canada, she understood as she recorded her testimony that the messages she had faithfully delivered over the years for God were now significant to what He was doing not only in her own country, but also around the world.  God was once more calling her to fearlessly deliver a message for Him.

This book is an account of the obedience, trials, testings, and growing up of a prophet.  Voices Crying In the Wilderness is a prophecy: God calling out His prophets—great and small–for this hour, and more importantly the hour to come.  This is a call to ALL God’s laborers to come and stand before Him and answer the call on their lives and rise up and be doing it—WITHOUT FEAR!

“God knows exactly what situations to place us in to see if we leak—on the other hand, I don’t think it is so that He can see if we leak—but so that we can see that we will leak under certain strains and stresses.”   Voices Crying In The Wilderness

Z-2 Amazon Book Reviews and Comments (eBook VCW)

(@ April 15, 2017)

Please Note: When I first completed and published Voices Crying in the wilderness I had no idea what I was to do with the book. I wrote it because my Heavenly Father instructed me to do so. When it was finished I asked Him. “Now what? Where do you want me to send this book?” His immediate response was a vision in which he showed me a map. The map included Great Britain, Europe, Africa and Australia. Shortly after He sent a woman from Ghana (excerpts from her letters follow the comments below) who had received a copy and was greatly inspired that the book was an answer to a prophetic word they had received that God was sending a woman with a book that would bring great blessing to them. The woman from Ghana came to meet with me. An agreement was drawn and the printing rights were given over to her and her ministry to distribute the book wherever it would bless their works.

Holy Spirit has only just recently released this book in North America. I am hearing amazing testimonies from young servants of God of how this book is impacting their lives and how they are suddenly experiencing prophetic downloads from God for this hour and season on the earth. I am in awe as I listen to their testimonies. Praise God! He has done what He said he would do with this book! Amen!

The following Amazon reviews were received during the initial publication process even though I did not pursue distribution. He is now speaking it is time to release this book to the western countries.

(Cut and paste reviews would not allow me to include the Amazon ratings. I have thus simply inserted the ratings by text as they appeared on Amazon.)

FIVE STAR RATING: Follow Your Destiny, June 11, 2008       FIVE STAR RATING

By Shirley Priscilla Johnson “Author/Reviewer -… (USA) –

I am always interested in reading a book written from the heart of a Christian as they have walked the walk to their destiny. In this work, we find, Alison Teed opening her heart and soul to the reader as she tells us her life story and her struggle to understand and accept her destiny.
Ms. Teed talks of the struggles she had within herself as she sought to follow the Savior. Often these were painful and confusing. She also shares ups and downs within the church and the learning experiences it brought to her. I have to say that many of the things she wrote about I either could personally relate to or knew others that had experienced some of the same. However, she always gave the Lord glory and definitely let the reader know that no matter what occurred, forgiveness and love must always be forefront. Certainly something we all should know and practice. I also liked the way she used Scriptures throughout her book. It helped to bring Spiritual meaning and understanding.
This book is truly from a servant’s heart, reaching out to others who are perhaps struggling to find their own destiny and walk where the Lord has called them to walk. A book that will encourage many along the path, as they open their heart to her testimony, her defeats and her victories. Recommended.

FIVE STAR RATING:    An account of thirty years of prophetic obedience, May 7, 2008

By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) –

James A. Cox, Editor-in-Chief

“Write in a book all you have seen and heard…” “Voices Crying in the Wilderness: A Call to Prophesy” is author and published writer Alison Teed’s answer to that call, a year of waiting on God, and calls “Voices Crying in the Wilderness: A Call to Prophesy” an account of thirty years of prophetic obedience. It is a semi-autobiographical account of growing up a prophet and a nudge that all of God’s people should come and answer his call without fear. Highly recommended for Christian studies shelves and for Christian readers in general.

FOUR STAR RATING:    A definite testament of someone following their calling, April 30, 2008

By Stephanie Manley (Eau Claire, MI) –

I have got to say that this book really struck a chord with me, as it is a book about the spiritual life of someone. It is the life of someone who definitely feels a strong calling in their life, and has followed their faith in God. I really like that Alison Teed did not always lead a perfect, sinless life, but rather she is completely candid about her life before becoming a Christian.

I liked her attitude was that we all sin, but God still loves us, and his grace is always there, and he still wants the best for us throughout life. Every chapter of her book is filled with the forgiving nature of God. Her life stories about her life, her families, and even her parents being saved are amazing, and a fantastic testimate to people leading lives with their faith as the center of the life.

Her use of scriptures throughout her book was well done, and always made the importance of the subject clear and concise. For me the most important issue of the book was that God really wants the best for you, for your life, and understands our human natures, and that he loves us anyway. It is refreshing to read about the Christian walks of others, and hear about their life experiences. Alison Teed definitely provides compelling testimony of living a Christian centered life.

Pastor James Bergen, North Fresno Church, CA 2008

I first got to know Alison (Lois) Teed in a church I pastored in Vancouver, BC. We grew close and remain friends to this day (2017) though we both live in different locations in North America. I am thrilled that Lois’ writing is coming to print and look forward to how God will use her prophetic voice to speak to his people in this time and this place. I know Lois to be a person of deep character and a heart after the Lord’s. Her continual desire and concern is to walk faithfully with God and see the church do the same. She is committed to Scripture and in particular God’s prophetic words to his people. Some of those words can be difficult, but even in some of those tough places and tough words I know her to be committed to people, a person also on a journey. I look forward to how God will use Alison in this season of her life, and how his voice will come through to us and how we will respond.

What a wonderful book. I enjoyed following you through your life and how you overcame fear. You mentioned that this book is for those who are pondering their call, but uncertain how to proceed. I have always desired the prophetic the gift. I am now asking the Lord the purpose of you giving me an opportunity to read your book….

Mrs. Alison Teed,

Dear Sister,
I feel compelled dear sister, to send you just a simple, but genuinely heartfelt thank you, for your fruitful obedience to the Lord.
I am currently reading “Voices crying in the wilderness”.
Again and again, I have been (internally) aware of Holy Spirit poignantly rising up within me in response to the words you vulnerably and graciously share in this book.
He is moving in the depths of my inner man through your writing, with His unmistakable presence of deep joy and poignant weeping….even as I feel now in writing you.
You have greatly ministered to me dear sister….
With a grateful heart to the Lord,
and to you,
May the Lord richly bless you,
your brother in Him,
Vernon Newbill

The wonder of the manifestation of Jesus’ miracles is not reserved just for “those out there” somewhere. His compassion, mercy and grace are immediate for all who call upon His Name, believing. Here is one person’s account of how Jesus became more real and His caring love undeniable in the face of body malfunctions and illnesses…more than 25 physical healings.

We tend to take our bodies for granted hoping that they will sustain us into old age without too much repair or maintenance. However, we are quite sophisticated walking, living machines. Like any machine, things need tuning up and servicing in order to keep things running smoothly. God has graciously provided us with physicians (The Lord bless them all!) who do everything they know how to help us keep our “engines” in good working order. BUT when a physician is occasionally confronted with some sort of malfunction of our equipment that they just can’t heal on their own, Jesus will step in and take care of whatever the physician cannot take care of. After all HE DESIGNED AND CREATED OUR BODIES. HE KNOWS EVERY DETAIL AND FUNCTION. HE IS OUR GREAT PHYSICIAN! AMEN!

My first encounter with Jesus and His offer to heal me happened before I even entered a church. It was not long after I invited Him into my life. I was watching a well-known, but much ridiculed, TV healing minister, Earnest Angley. Brother Angley turns 96 this August (2017). I watched him on TV in my early days and actually attended one of his crusades in Vancouver, BC. During his preaching, he suddenly stopped and pointed directly to me and informed me that Jesus wanted to heal my spine. I didn’t know I had anything wrong with my spine. He kept commanding me to stand up and receive my healing. I was a very new Christian and I was a little embarrassed at his rebuke and wouldn’t stand. He turned and continued on with his message.

I discovered several years later that I did indeed have a problem with my spine. I had suffered for 5 years after delivering my 10 ½ pound baby boy with sciatica. Now…I am a simple country girl, people, and I heard lots about rheumatism, sciatica, lumbago and all that sort of thing and from the old tales from home thought it was like having a cold in my hip. The pain eventually became so severe I could not walk. My husband had had enough of my groanings and put me in the car and drove me to a well-known sports chiropractor he knew personally. There, I was x-rayed and it was discovered that I had scoliosis, a deformed vertebrate and an extra vertebrate, not to mention misalignment, leading back to my pregnancy and delivery of my big baby boy. I remembered brother Angley’s words to me and was amazed that he knew all this. I still did not connect all this to Jesus wanting to heal me at the crusade. It was more about brother Angley and how he knew that I had a badbback condition. But as I grew and understood more and studied more of His Word, I realized I had missed out on a wonderful miracle. His mercies are new every morning and great is his faithfulness, for the sports chiropractor was very skilled and within weeks I had completely recovered from the persistent pain of more than 5 years. The scoliosis remained and over the following years I could see a definite lean to the left. Let’s leave that for now.

This was not the last of brother Angley! In my book Voices Crying in the Wilderness, A call to prophecy, I give my testimony in detail. Here I will simply say at this point I had found a church and was attending church and group meetings at least 3 times a week. My husband and I came into relationship with Jesus at the end of the 70s revival…of course we had no idea we were part of a revival at the time. One day I decided not to attend church (We likely had attended other meetings during the week and needed a rest.) My husband attended church and I stayed home. I watched brother Angley on TV. He spoke a Word that Jesus was healing someone of a “widow’s hump”.

Here again I noticed that I was developing a definite protrusion on my back at the top of my spine, just at the base of the neck. I commented to my husband that I hoped I was not going to develop what I, by then, understood to be a generational infirmity. My maternal grandfather had a very noticeable hump on his back and complained frequently of a pain in his neck.  About ten years ago I also met up with a cousin I hadn’t seen for many years and noticed his condition was so severe he could barely lift his head. My mother too had a slight protrusion at the top of her spine. Mine was not looking good and I would deliberately try to stand as straight as I could, but I could see this family condition was more and more noticeable.

BUT THIS TIME I HEARD BROTHER ANGLEY AND IMMEDIATELY RECEIVED JESUS BLESSING OF HEALING. Brother Angley commanded that whoever this Word was for must stand up and begin to praise and thank Jesus. This is did without hesitation! I jumped up from the sofa and began to praise Him with hands lifted in the air and thanked Him with such joy. I knew I had been healed. When I checked in the mirror my spine was completely straight at the top. This was very exciting to see and I couldn’t wait to show my husband when he returned from church! Wow! This might not mean anything to someone who has not experienced such a deformity, but even now it is such a wonderful blessing to remember what He did for me!

The last couple of years I have felt a strong sense that I was to share my testimonies of Jesus’ healings. For whatever reason the Lord has held me back until now. I know His timing is always perfect and what I share here, He will use to inspire and strengthen others’ faith and trust in Him. To Jesus be all the praise and glory! Amen!

Ok…back to the scoliosis…I do not have a record of when I was healed of scoliosis, but that too is long gone. I do know it all happened around the same era. Sometimes I received a healing and didn’t even know for a time and then realized that whatever was ailing me was completely gone. So if you are counting, you will have to fill in the blanks as I may not get to all 25 plus healings in this testimony. Another thing…if I die of something tomorrow that would in no way diminish my testimony of the years and years of His wonderful healing and maintained blessings in my body. We all go at some time. I would love to be translated and not taste death, but not sure that is my lot in life.

So at this point, the Lord helped and provided one of the best chiropractors available to bring healing to a (1) severe sciatic condition, (2) Jesus then healed me of the generational “widow’s hump” (3) and He healed the scoliosis.

Another healing about the same time (era) came one Sunday morning in our worship service. Our church was well known as the “Worshiping Church” and it was not unusual for members of the congregation to receive healing or deliverance. (I will talk about deliverance later.) A little girl born to friends of ours (Her parents became pastors later and at one time were our group leaders.) had a birth defect where her foot was quite twisted and she had difficulty walking. During one of our evening worship services everyone gathered around the little girl (I think she was about 4 years old at the time.), laid hands on her and prayed for her healing and with astonishment everyone watched the little girl’s foot twist back around and straighten…perfectly straight! He parents continue today to pastor a very successful church in the lower-mainland of BC. PRAISE YOU, JESUS!

Well, back to my own experience. I tended to suffer regular bouts of bronchitis. One Sunday morning I was dripping bronchitis, coughing and hacking and all sickly. I decided to go to church anyway. I knew there was healing in the “house” and Jesus might touch me and heal me. The worship was wonderful; I was lost in the presence of God and my heart soared with His. We finished our worship and listened intently to the message preached, making notes as usual. I didn’t think much more about sickness until we left the service and I realized I was completely healed. Just in case this seems ho, hum to you, which I do understand. Just think AT 10 AM I WAS DRIPPING SICK AND AT 12 PM I WAS COMPLETELY NORMAL!  Bronchitis does not just vanish in 2 hours! But healing now had become normal for me. Well, almost normal. It would be a few years yet before I completely handed my life or death over to Jesus, trusting Him completely and allowing Him to take charge of my health and healing, or death if that was to be.

I will pause here for a breather. This finishes a particular era and beginning of a growing understanding and trust in the power, compassion and love of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. ARE YOU ENCOURAGED! I surely hope so. This is just the beginning. The Lord bless all who read this message with renewed faith and blessing in their physical, mental and spiritual being. Amen!

Stay tuned. I will return within the week for the next episode of HEALING IS THE CHILDREN’S BREAD PART II
