I hope this message brings enlightenment to many as they seek their Heavenly Father for His help in their time of weariness.
WHY PRAY? 1
I awoke this morning pondering what I might have to say about the subject of prayer that hasn’t already been said. There are so many books written on the subject. I thought also that my prayer life is certainly not anywhere near as fervent and intense as it was just 3 years ago. 3 years ago, I was bounding back and forth in electric intercession, breaking down spiritual barriers and calling on God on behalf of His people that He had sent me to share life with and encourage forward in the revelation of Jesus love, abundant life and His Holy Spirit. Wow! I surely was a powerhouse in the Throne Room, and God heard, and He answered and I saw things begin to happen in the spirit and in those I lifted up to God.
Then He instructed my husband and I to purchase a small farm that we would restore and prepare for those He directed us to. We pressed forward in faith, believing that if we were faithful to do our part He would do His. Amen! However, the practical aspects of restoring a property, house and land took more and more focus and management on my part. Mostly, now I was too tired to arise at 4 am and intercede until 6, back to sleep for an hour or two and then leap into some practical aspects of renovation, hiring laborers, managing a budget and maintaining what was already established. It took 7 days just to make the rounds of mowing and trimming lawns, pruning trees and shrubs, moving heavy water lines twice a day and wait…and wait…and wait on contractors and helpers. My mind would swim with organization for the next day, or next project, or finances and the ministry to the people God sent me to.
It is now over three and a half years of this. My sleep is constantly interrupted by one infirmity and then another (From which the Lord has delivered me from them all!), direct opposition to our work from the dark spirits of the region and constant labors of my husband to replenish finances.
So this blog entry, “Why Pray” is for those of you who relate to my ongoing circumstances and believe that your fatigue has resulted in your lack of “fervent, righteous” prayers.
First and foremost: Confess your sins, if you know you need to, and He is faith and just to forgive us our sins and cleans us from all unrighteousness. Remember what Jesus did for you. It is His blood shed for your sins that cleanses you! Also the Father promises that He is able to deliver the Godly from temptation! Amen!) Jesus blood is enough to make a difference when you come boldly before the Father in time of need. Confess, repent, receive Jesus sacrifice and move forward with faith, believing that you are loved and accepted. Amen.
Why pray? Because God loves to hear your voice, no matter how weak or worn. He loves to hear anything you have to say. He is listening and He is waiting to do what you ask in Jesus Name. Jesus said, “Ask anything in My name and the Father will do it for you.” And, yes, we need to ask knowing His will. He will let you know if you are not asking in His will: Just read the Word and you will know what pleases Him and what offends Him.
OK…so this morning I had several words with the Father as to my concerns regarding my seeming lack of fervency and couldn’t think of what I should ask. Wow! Holy Spirit stepped in immediately and I was compelled to pray in tongues! There poured forth a heartfelt fervent intercession from the depths of my spirit. I felt so blessed and joyful to have the Holy Spirit come and lead me. Now I knew I was praying according to my Father’s will!!! When we pray in the Spirit we are led by the Holy Spirit. We may not know what we are saying, but He does, and He will draw from our hearts what we desire to bring before the Father and out it comes in tongues. Wow! Wow! Wow! And I thought I couldn’t possibly have enough to offer to my Heavenly Father on behalf of those I held in my heart.
I continued on for about half an hour in tongues and then certain souls came to my mind and I began to pray with my understanding on their behalf. I asked a few things for my husband, myself, children and ministry. Then I moved into decreeing and confessing God’s promises. With all the renovations and work done in the house and outside I am constantly moving things around to make room for the workers. Things get misplaced when a job lingers for 2 or 3 weeks and my devotional materials are put away somewhere and I can’t remember where! But many decrees I can remember and God’s promises and instructions from His Word. I will often take the Bible also, open to Psalms, Proverbs and other scriptures and speak them over and into the lives God has placed in my care, my family first of course.
Here’s what it sounded like this morning:
- Tongues…tongues…tongues…tongues.
- Then prayer in my understanding…asking for assistance, help, wisdom etc for those whom God has placed in my life…now including, Facebook friends.
- Then decreeing such things as:
“I am strong. No weapon formed against me shall prosper, and every tongue that rises up against me in judgment I shall condemn. For this is the heritage of the children of the Lord. I shall not die, but live to declare the works of God. If God is for me, who or what can be against me.” etc, etc.
- Then I came against all powers of darkness that might try to come against our works here or our children.
- Then I prayed blessing over all those God has placed in my care and path…favor, wisdom, prudence, abundant life, safety etc, etc.
WHY PRAY? What an amazing privilege God has bestowed on us that we might partner with Him in touching the lives of others we sojourn with over our life span. We see the need; we call out to Him, and He changes lives and circumstances. What a glorious partnership! Amen.
